Black warlocks can be caught at 65 Hunter when wielding a butterfly net and having an empty Butterfly jar, granting the player 1062 Hunter experience. Catching Black warlocks barehanded (but still with an empty jar) requires 95 Hunter and grants 2205 Hunter experience. Black warlocks can be found in the jungle of Karamja.

Releasing Black warlock has several effects. Firstly, it returns an empty jar. Secondly, hitpoints are restored by a certain amount, depending on the player's Hitpoint level (up to 16 HP at level 99 Hitpoints). Thirdly, maximum Strength level is boosted (up to 123 at level 99 Strength). Lastly, Attack, Defence, Range and Magic levels are reduced by 5%. The boosts and debuffs will gradually wear out and levels will be restored to their original state. Thus, the effects are very similar to those of the Zamorak brew BUT Black warlocks do NOT boost maximum Hitpoints level!
