The Dragonfire shield gives the best protection against dragonfire attacks (the protection stacks with the Antifire potion and Super antifire potion). It can be charged with dragon breaths. Clicking operate at your equipment screen while having 5 dragonfire charges, launches a dragon breath at your target, which can hit up to 70. The dragon breath gives magic exp based on the damage you deal with it. This special attack does not hit very high against dragons and players with protection against dragonfire.

The Dragonfire shield can be created by using a draconic visage at an anvil, whilst having an Anti-dragon shield and a hammer in the inventory. This requires 90 Smithing and grants 1,046 smithing experience. Another way to create the Dragonfire shield is paying Horvik a coin fee of 1.000.000 gp whilst having the Anti-dragon shield and the draconic visage in the inventory. Both ways give the player the choice to create either a Dragonfire shield (melee), a Dragonfire shield (range) or a Dragonfire shield (mage), which all have different bonuses that can be found below.
