Astral runes can be crafted by using Rune essence on the Astral altar, which can be found on Lunar Island (aka Moonclan Island). This action requires Runecrafting level 67 and grants 192 experience. The player will receive 4 Astral runes for every rune essence. Astral runes do not grant a multiplier when the player's Runecrafting level is higher than 67.
Players can reach the island by either wearing an Astral tiara when entering a Prismatic altar, or by using the level 69 Moonclan or the level 71 Ouriana teleportation spells from the Lunar spellbook.
Astral runes can no longer be crafted by by smelting 4 Rune essence in a furnace or by using the Superheat spell whilst wearing an Astral tiara.
